Swiss Meat Wins "Best of Show" Five Years in a Row

 

 

 

     Swiss Meat & Sausage Company, a third generation family owned and operated business near

 

Hermann, Mo. was honored for the fifth straight year with the "Best of Show" award presented at 

                                                                                                                                                         the 24th  annual Wurstfest celebration held in Hermann March 22 & 23rd.   This years' top honor

 

was awarded to their Smoked Bratwurst.  Swiss Meats took home fourteen awards total which were presented for their various flavors of fresh and smoked sausages as well as jerky and snack sticks.

     Judging the Wurstfest competition were:  WIL Radio personality, Lynn Stewart;  Greg and Donita Allen Wood, editors of Missouri Life Magazine;  Dr. Andrew Clark, Food & Science Prof. UMC;  Cherilyn Davis, past president Missouri Association of Meat Processors (MAMP);  Don Nikodim, Executive Director, Missouri Pork Producers;  Bob Aston and Steve Mueller, local wurstmeisters.

     Earlier this month, while attending the 64th Annual MAMP Convention and competition, Swiss Meats was honored with nine additional awards.  Those products bringing home the top

 

honor of Grand Champion were Hickory Smoked Bacon and Weisswurst.  Winning Reserve

Grand Champion was a product introduced recently by Belgium wurstmeister, Johan Verscheure.  This was a sausage filled brisket prepared and cooked in a European mold.  Awards were also presented for their Hickory Smoked Boneless and Bone In Hams and Bison, Beef and Elk Summer Sausages.  A new category added to MAMP this year, "The Best of Missouri" was also presented to Swiss Meats on their BBQ Snack Sticks.
